I find the CRAFT magazine website a useful one to keep an eye on for good ideas and interesting links. Today, I found a link to a useful tutorial about using shisha mirrors in embroidery simply put together using clear photographs. There are some excellent examples of using video and photography in tutorials on this page - beware, there's a morning gone once you start browsing through them all!
Recently I've seen the "real", paper magazine on the shelves in WHSmiths, but think the online version is so much more interesting somehow. I particularly love the slightly wacky ideas and we've just giggled our way through the StarWars Video podcast.
I might have a go at putting a similar tutorial together - do you think I can claim for a manicure on my expenses?

Indian textile embrooidery influences much of my own work - will post a photo - I looked at the shisha tutorial - I don't sew my mirrows on like this - so will try to do a series of photos with my method (put on the list!) I have an excellent DVD of Indian textile embroiderers stitching - at lightening speed - shisha mirrors (they don't use a frame) and also a DVD of how the traditional mirrow tiles are made. It is extraordinary. I am checking on copyright for showing in class.
Sara, your list grows ever longer!!
I think you'd be ok to show your DVD in a class, though of course, not to upload any of it here. Certainly the huge range of DVDs available now make them a really useful teaching resource, I agree.
I have a couple of crafty DVDs too - perhaps we should organise a bit of a swap between us?
Gill You can have a manicure on expenses if I can too??? Certainly found that the digicam shows up all the dyeing I have been doing without my marigolds on.Purple and blue cuticles are not very becoming on the big screen.
Will have to become a manicured diva now.
Bestwishes
Maggie
