Digital Camera

Have been having a 'play' with the digital camera which has been fun with three willing subjects and that has all been pretty straightforward but i have not yet really had a good look at the printer. This because i know that the ink/paper will be expensive to replace but as i want to try it out first i was wondering if anybody out there knows how many prints the cartridge does, and whether the ink will dry out if i open it to try it and then not use it for some time. Does anybody have any experience of this?

Me too been playing with camera taking pictures of textile work close up and trying to capture textures as this will be useful when I get back to lessons and the students can photograph their own work, will attempt to add photos onto blog at some point!
Along with Kirstie I would also appreciate knowing...if anyone has any idea! how long the printer cartridge lasts/or dries up on the Epsom Photo printer? although think I will probably just wait till term starts again and see how long it lasts from the first lesson!

Hi Kirstie and Jo,
I've only used the printer once in class to print out 3 times, but I know Sara has used it more and has replaced the cartridge. She's away at the moment, back soon I think, I'll ask her to answer your questios, I'd like to know too.

I have used the printer and it is very straightforward to follow instructions on LCD screen. The ink cartridge supplied with the printer does not last very long as getting it all going uses ink. An icon on top right of LCD screen will indicate low ink. Leave old cartridge in printer until you have obtained a replacement, otherwise ink remaining in the print head nozzle might dry out. This info and more is on page 41...in instruction manual. Manual has loads of useful clear info. When you buy a new cartridge it comes with photo printing paper. I have just purchased a new cartridge and it was purcahsed by mail order (internet) from BuyEpsom (e-mail - buyepson_enquiry@epson.co.uk). tel 0871 2226738. It says on the packet - 50 10x15cm prints. It cost (incl vat and postage) £13.49. When I checked local stores they did not have it in stock but would order it. Should also add - I got about 15 prints from the cartridge supplied with the printer. I will count prints from new cartridge and feedback - let's hope I get at least 50 - which would make it about 27p per print. Hope this helps a bit. sara
