Here's lookin' at you! & Docucam info.

This is the shot from the other side of the camera at our meeting on Monday. Two can play this game Gill.
Lizzie,Pleased to hear you are giving the docucam a go. Hope these step by step instructions are a help. The order in which you follow these instructions are important.. ...so I have numbered them in the correct sequence.
1. Connect docucam to the digital projector ( you do not need the laptop unless you wish to record) with the black S.Video lead.
2. Attach power lead to docucam and switch on.
3. Switch digital projector on.. it will then automatically search for an "input".
4. If the digital projector does not find the "input" on its own... then press the "source" button on the digital projector.
Let me know how you get on.... Maggie

I've managed this afternoon to connect the docucam and projector, thank you Maggie and Gill! I think the problem was that I had positioned the projector too near my living room wall, and when the "S-video" setting showed, it was too blurred and brief and I'd missed it. Hopefully others will learn from my mistakes!
Now, on to connecting the projector, docucam to the laptop. I connected it fine. I started to try to understand the VideoImpression software but started to get frustrated with my lack of knowledge, and stopped. This is an area where I think that myself and possibly other tutors with the kit could really benefit from some training, soon if possible please!

aaah...Lizzie, the VideoImpression software...hmmm.

Of course, whilst using the docucam "live" to simply show what you're doing, there's no need for the laptop and the software. The only reason you'd want to use the software program is if you'd want to record the action and show again.

From memory (and it's a while since I used the facility) the key word is "capture" - not record - if that's any help!

Oh, and another thing....I wonder if Maggie's Robin has any ideas about getting those videos to show on the laptop, Lizzie?

Yes I understand that the laptop's for recording the demonstration, did you think I was going to stop and feel satisfied without giving the "clever stuff" a go?!
Since there's funding for training, should AdEd ask Maggie's Robin if he'd be available to run some workshops?

Goodness me, turn my back on you for one minute and you are all chatting... great stuff.
Lizzie and Gill, Robin would be happy to help. He will also work at your pace, and prefers small groups... as its more satisfying for him to see you using the hardware with confidence. His motto is " computers should be used and not be an expense, in terms of time or money".
so give him a shout when you are ready.
Best wishes
Maggie
