Getting pictures onto a disk

Sara, I think I have the answer for you, here at home. It's called Smart Photostorage
This is a CD writer which doesn't need laptop or anything - simply slot a memory stick/camera card into the side, put a blank CDR into the front and bingo, it will write the files from one to the other. I think there's a USB connection too.
We used to take it on holiday, before we became totally hooked and got a tiny laptop. Every evening we'd transfer photographs from the day onto a CDR, no problem.
Now, how am I going to get this to you so you can play with it, I wonder?

thanks for that - it sounds simple - and this is essential in a class situation - it also sounds as if it is a very compact bit of kit. I would love to try it out. I can get to Gloucester easily - so I could collect if you are happy to lend. Talking of compact kit - when I have been travelling by bus to teach(which I often do)I have just taken my digital photo frame (pressie from kids) and a memory stick with photos. This works well to introduce a subject or show photos of progres and is easily carried.

Sara, it's the size of a large paperback - and probably a bit lighter. As always with these things, the heaviest bit is the transformer (though it does have a rechargeable battery too)

Brilliant idea with the photo frame. I imagine several people have those - I think it was the present of last Christmas, wasn't it?

I meant to say too, that I'll take it into Shire Hall when I next go in - though a couple of weeks away at the Stitch shows coming up, it might be a week or two.

Sara, love your idea of using the digital photo frame.
