Laptop and projector

I successfully used the patop and projector in a session today - the group are doing a community textile piece with the theme of The River Severn and I showed a slide show of photos by the River. It was so much better than passing photos round and of course saves on ink and paper! A couple of learners are bringing photos in on CDs next week to show the group using the laptop and projector, which is great. I filmed the learners watching the slide show. I'll try to upload it onto Blog, if it's not here it's because I haven't managed! One issue with recording through the camera is that my voice comes acrosss as loud and others' voices are hardly audible, don't quite know what to do about that!

It's really interesting to see what you're doing here, Lizzie and you raise some very good points.
I find it especially interesting that your learners are quite comfortable with (and excited by) the equipment.

The group is made up of computer literate learners - all use the internet and digital cameras. It'll be interesting to compare their comfort and enthusiasm with a group made up of "hard to reach" learners, all elderly and only one of the ten uses the internet. I'll keep you posted. Lizzie

I am a student in Lizzy's textile course and we all enjoyed seeing the pictures. It prompted a good discussion. Lizzy had also printed several of the pictures for the collage work we did in that session so it all hung together really well. re sweet insect's point - I have a group of learners who, on the whole, do not use the internet. They were fascinated by the information we gathered from various web sites. They needed lots of support but it has prompted 2 learners to enrol on an IT course at GL14 Community Project. The space at GL14 has internet facilities which I find very useful. However it would be easy to overwhelm learners with technology. I know the feeling!

This is so interesting - Sara, I agree that it is easy to overdo it - I hate to think of the reaction if we were to take every bit of kit in all at once...I think the key to success is taking it gently.

But it's so good to hear that learners are inspired in so many different ways, isn't it?
